Aristotelis ke Anthoula

There are many wineries in the world, but few start in a garage in the beachside suburbs of Sydney. Named in honor of his Greek immigrant parents who started the tradition of making wine at home, Tony Zafirakos brings their dream to life in New South Wales with the natural wine traditions of the Mediterranean—creating pure, high-quality wines that are a slice of both their heritage and the community they’ve built together.

Behind the Bottle

Originally sourcing grapes from fellow Greek expat growers in the Riverland, Aristotelis ke Anthoula now manages its own vines from its winery in Merimbula, New South Wales. Head winemaker Tony Zafirakos embraces both old-school Mediterranean methods and a modern no-rules attitude to wine—and the result is uniquely expressive expressions of seaside Australia, with uniquely Mediterranean varieties carefully chosen to thrive here like Zibibbo, Vermentino, Sangiovese, and even Nero d’Avola.
