Maria & Sepp Muster
Sgaminegg 2018
Located on the high mountainous slopes by Lake Neusiedl, limestone and marl hosts old vines of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The grapes are hand harvested, crushed, gently pressed, and spontaneously fermented in oak barrels. The resulting wine is dense on the palate with subtle tannins— a beautiful and concentrated expression of terroir with chalky, slightly smoky, salty, and subtle fruit notes with good acid, medium body and ever pulling mineral finish. Benefits from long aeration.

Maria & Sepp Muster
Maria and Sepp Muster’s labels are some of the most sought after bottles in the natural wine world. Their low intervention methods produce meditative bottles with great tension and minerality. Their labels, designed by artist Beppo Pliem, reflect the natural interaction between earth, sky, and grape — all central to their ideology.

Behind the Bottle
Located in the Styria region of Austria, the rocky clay, chalky, and silt soil, which has been in Sepp’s family since 1727, has never seen chemical treatment. After taking over Sepp’s parents estate, they obtained organic certification in 2003 for their 22 hectares of land. Their plots host over 70 plant species, breaking the mold of monoculture farming in wine — a testament to their commitment to biodynamics.
