Milan Nestarec
OKR 2021
Read this label as it is: Okr, or “ochre” in Czech—a fitting name for an orange wine made by one of the country’s most talented natural winemakers Milan Nestarec, who calls this a “normal” skin contact wine with lots of energy and an everyday easy drinking vibe (let the one-liter bottle speak for itself). Expect lots of tropical fruits and citrus with light floral notes. No hardcore tannins here, meaning it’s also a great introduction to orange wine!

No gimmicks, no magic, and no bullshit. Approachable, zippy, and full of life, Milan Nestarec’s wines are now among the most recognizable bottles of natural wines in the world. According to the man himself: Milan Nestarec is not a winery. “It is ideas that just happen to be represented through wine."

Behind the Bottle
Somewhat of a prodigy, Milan Nestarec has been entrusted with all the winemaking of his family’s estate in Moravia, Czech Republic since he was 16 years old. Nestarec converted the estate to organic philosophies in 2008, which now produces a prolific number of bottles a year on its 24 hectares.
A vocal advocate of field blends, his white or orange wines almost always see a short amount of skin contact. Nestarec has become an icon of the scene with nothing more than skill, spontaneous fermentation, a bunch of tanks and old barrels, grape juice, and time.
