La Grapperie
L'enchanteresse 2019
Although the darling red grape of the Loire Valley for natural wine makers, Pineau d’Aunis is still relatively obscure. Renaud Guettier manually harvests grapes from his oldest vines, ferments as whole bunches, and ages in oak for 2 years. Leaving us with a balanced, smooth, and delicate bottle with some oomph. Ripe berries, warm spices, and earthy tones adorn the glass with velvety tannins that are underscored with typical bright acidity and medium body.

La Grapperie
Renaud Guettier is a relatively unassuming winemaker, but his wines are among the most expressive in the Loire Valley. Made with zero additions, zero sulfites, unfiltered and unfined, his wines are both approachable but complex, delicate but bold, and beautiful expressions of the land.

Behind the Bottle
A former agricultural engineer, Guettier has been buying small plots of old vines around his Bueil-en-Touraine home since 2004. Today he has about 6 hectares of vines. Working mostly with Chenin Blanc and Pineau d’Aunis, two native Loire Valley grapes, the clay and limestone terroir that his 100 plus year old vines sit on are the calling card of La Grapperie.
