One of Burgenland’s superstars, Christian Tschida shows off with Blaufrankisch. A grape usually prized for its drinkability and fruitiness, here it is all dressed up as a dark, brooding, and very serious wine. Decadent and complex, with black fruit and spice leaping from the glass, this wine is somehow still very fresh even with the big bold tannins and muscular body.

Behind the Bottle
Obsessive about his vines and soil, Tschida promotes other plant life and animal life in his vineyards so as not to upset the elegant balance and terroir that he has become internationally recognized for. Using his vertical basket press that extracts only the best juice from his grapes, he ferments spontaneously at ambient temperature in large wooden barrels with long aging periods. Bottles are always unfiltered and unfined.
