A skin-soaked expression of old-vine Verdejo left to macerate on its skins, this is orange wine in its most raw, uncompromising form. Deep amber in the glass, it bursts with notes of dried citrus peel and salted caramel, carried by grippy tannins and electric acidity. Textural, slightly untamed, and beautifully alive, Brutal lives up to its name—structured yet vibrant, a soulful natural wine that pairs just as easily with bold food as it does with good company and an open mind.

Microbio Wines
Winemaker Ismael Gozalo founded Microbio Wines in 1998 as a side project for his more natural, experimental wines. He trusts in tending to his soil organically and harmoniously, with as little intervention as possible, which finds itself seeping into his winemaking philosophy.

Behind the Bottle
Located in the village of Nieva, Castilla y Léon, Spain, his ancient vines of mostly Verdejo are housed on sandy soils about 800 meters above sea level. Known as the ‘Wizard of Verdejo’ he produces a dizzying array of wines from his family’s vines that they have tended to for 5 generations.
Constantly experimenting with aging, skin contact, and various types of spontaneous fermentation, he now produces 12-15 different expressions of Verdejo — he is a true master of his craft.
